Focus Medical Eye Centre has been part of the Hailsham community for over 30 years, first established by Mr and Mrs Htoon in 1989. In 2014 following retirement by the previous owners, Anthony and Amanda Bahadur took over the baton and put their vision of modern day Optometry into action. The practice was extensively modernised and retro fitted to offer a greater patient experience with comfortable surroundings, quality frame ranges and embracing the latest optical technologies.
Focus Medical Eye Centre promotes a culture of clinical excellence and personal service, getting to know their patients and treating them as individuals. In 2018 our vision and hard work was rewarded when Focus won a prestigious national award ‘The AOP Young Practice of the Year’. This award is presented to optical practices that were adjudged to of demonstrated with drive and flair their ability to establish, grow and retain a strong customer base whilst engaging with the local community and offering the very best in clinical care.

Amanda Bahadur BSc (Hons) MCOptom Dip Tp (IP) SVUK Prof Cert Glaucoma
Amanda Bahadur is one of the practice owners at Focus Medical Eye Centre and resident Optometrist. She has been in practice since 2002 after graduating from Bradford University. She enjoys all aspects of Optometry and specialises in helping children with more complex eye problems and is a qualified School Vision practitioner. Amanda is an Independent Prescribing Optometrist which means she can treat and manage a large number of eye conditions similar to an eye GP. She also gained her professional certificate In glaucoma in 2019. She is actively involved in professional training and development and is known for her friendly caring nature.
Anthony Bahadur BSc (Hons) MCOptom Dip Tp (IP) Prof Cert Glaucoma
Anthony Bahadur is one of the practice owners and Principal Optometrist at Focus Medical Eye Centre. He has been in practice since 1999 after graduating from Aston University. He quickly showed flair in professional training and business management and became a College of Optometrists Supervisor and practice owner by the age of 28. Anthony has continued with his development and now holds his Independent Prescribers qualification which means he can treat and manage a large number of eye conditions similar to an eye GP. He also worked part time as an NHS specialist optometrist at Bexhill Hospital for many years. He is well respected for his clinical excellence, attention to detail and friendly manner.
Sara Niv FBDO
Sara Niv is our Practice Manager and also a fully qualified Dispensing Optician. She has been in practice since 2007. She has a professional yet friendly approach and enjoys spending time with her patients offering the highest standard of optical care. Sara also specialises in coloured overlay and low vision assessments and is qualified in Blephex treatments.
Shahram Kashani BSc MBBS MRCP FRCOphth MSc
Mr Shahram Kashani is a consultant ophthalmic surgeon at Eastbourne District General Hospital. He is a UK trained ophthalmologist, graduating from St George’s Hospital Medical School in 1998. He has extensive experience in managing general ophthalmic pathology specialising in retinal vascular disease and complex cataract surgery. He has trained at various prestigious ophthalmic units in London including Kings College Hospital, Charing Cross and Western Eye Hospital, Chelsea and Westminster Hospital as well as 3 years at the world renowned Moorfields Eye Hospital. Mr Kashani has won several awards for his teaching skills at Eastbourne DGH and has particular interest in developing the role of optometrists and nurse specialists in delivering modern ophthalmic care.
Peter Worthington M.S.H.A.A H.A.D
Peter Worthington has been assisting people with their hearing services for nearly 20 years. He provides a full hearing service offering independent advice on hearing aids, wax removal and tinnitus support. He is known for his family values and honest support for his patients.
